What's New For the 2019 Nissan Frontier?

The Nissan Frontier is historically an intrepid, agile, and strong vehicle. This year is no exception. The 2019 Frontier stands out among its mid-size truck competitors in a variety of ways. Complete with an attractive facade, a bold front grille, powerful headlights, and attention to detail across its exterior, the latest Frontier will catch your eye from the start. Also this year you'll find more in the way of safety features, as Nissan has added more safety amenities to its vehicles across the board. Interior technology has been updated and refreshed, which gives you the comfort and convenience of an SUV while still providing the handling of a solid truck. The 2019 Frontier is offered with a V6 engine that is designed to maximize power while conserving fuel when possible.

Which Features are Available for 2019?

In 2019, the Frontier is available in the S, SV, Desert Runner, SL, and Pro-4X trims. The S is the base model. In this trim level, you'll get a standard centrally located infotainment center with a seven-inch display screen. This trim, like the others, is offered in either a crew cab, king cab, or extended crew cab bed. Two-wheel drive is standard on the S, and you have a choice of either a manual or an automatic transmission. This Frontier, like its siblings, is durable and off-road ready with a specially designed suspension system and a solid axle. Moving up to the SV, you will get all that the S offers along with signature 16-inch wheels, a chrome rear bumper, and conveniences like power-locking doors and windows. Starting with this trim level, you have the option of getting your Frontier with either a four-cylinder or a six-cylinder engine. You can also choose between a manual or an automatic transmission. Two-wheel drive is standard.

There are a number of optional features with the SV, including a leather-trimmed shift knob and steering wheel. The Desert Runner has specialized off-road shock absorbers to power comfortably over any terrain. Front fog lights provide better visibility in inclement weather. The driver's seat moves in eight ways and offers lumbar support for additional comfort. If saving fuel is a priority, you have the option to get a flexible fuel variation. Topping the list is the Pro-4X. This truck adds more interior amenities with dual-zone automatic air conditioning and an infotainment system with navigation. Along with specialized shock absorbers, it has skid plates and a 4x4 drivetrain to meet your off-road driving needs.

A Perfect Blend of Power and Fuel Efficiency

2019 Nissan Frontier Exterior FrontThe base engine, which is standard in the S, is a four-cylinder engine with a 16-valve configuration. This engine has a 2.5L capacity. It cranks out a maximum of 152 HP at 5,200 RPM, and it can generate up to 171 LB-FT of torque at 4,400 RPM. On the SV and up, you can also get a V6 engine with more horsepower (261) and more torque (281 LB-FT at 4,000 RPM). A five-speed manual transmission is standard in the S, while the other trims get a five-speed automatic.

Packed with Safety Features

2019 Nissan Frontier Exterior RearYou never know what will happen on the road, but Nissan takes all the possibilities into consideration. The Frontier is equipped with a number of safety amenities to prevent a crash and reduce impact to you in case you do get into an accident. Air bags throughout the interior, including on the front, sides, and roof, deploy when needed upon impact. The Nissan's crumple zones shift energy from a crash away from the cabin, as do guard beams along the side doors.
