Nissan is constantly taking new innovative leaps in the automotive world to alter the way cars are developed and designed. Just last year Nissan of Europe introduced a self-cleaning Note prototype to the world, which was made possible through the use of Ultra-Ever Dry paint, and now the division is debuting entirely new technology: glow-in-the-dark paint.

This time around Nissan used an all-electric LEAF to show off their latest paint technology. Completely organic, the glow-in-the-dark paint works by absorbing UV solar energy during the day, which allows it to glow for up to 10 hours during the night. Nissan worked with Hamish Scott, the creator of the STARPATH, a spray-on coating that absorbs UV energy to glow at night, in order to develop the unique car paint. Once applied to a vehicle, the paint will continue to glow each night for up to 25 years; however, as of now, there are no plans to make it available to the public.

Nissan of Europe's main mission with the glow-in-the-dark LEAF is to educate people about the benefits of using solar energy and encourage them to consider the alternate power source. To see just how cool the glow-in-the-dark LEAF is, watch the 55-second spot highlighting its capabilities below.
