Nissan Altima Maintenance Schedule
A reliable vehicle comes from keeping up with regular maintenance. Your Nissan Altima maintenance schedule follows some of your vehicle's commonly used parts that need to be inspected and serviced as time goes on. At Texas Nissan, scheduling these appointments has never been easier, and we'll make sure that you avoid some of the significant issues that can occur with a vehicle that has been neglected.
How Often Should I Service My Altima?
Maintenance schedules can vary based on the model and trim level you have, so we recommend checking out your owner's manual to see what's specifically recommended in your instance. Our service department follows the general schedule below when it comes to routine service and maintenance.
10,000-Mile Service
Ten-thousand miles is the first major milestone when it comes to maintenance for your Nissan Altima. It's likely your vehicle hasn't seen a lot of wear and tear yet, but we check some of the more commonly used parts like your brake lines, rotors, brake pads, and various cables. After all, this is an essential part of your vehicle that focuses on your safety. We also take a look at some fluid levels that can wear down by the 10,000-mile mark, like CVT transmission fluid, coolant, oil in your engine, brake fluid, and the fluid in your power steering system. If you have an all-wheel drive Altima, we inspect your differential gear oil and transfer case oil, along with your propeller shaft.
Because we're giving your vehicle a once-over for likely the first time, we check for signs of wear or malfunction on your horn, windshield wipers, turn signals, headlights, and your rear hatch. Shortly after this point, we frequently see issues that relate to your suspension shocks and tie rods, drive shaft boots, drive belts, and hoses. The 10,000-mile inspection is done in hopes of catching these issues before they are a major issue. Changing your air filter can improve fuel efficiency ratings, and we look at the quality of your tires to ensure that you have enough tread left to provide you with an optimal level of protection. A routine oil change and change of your filter will round out this appointment.
30,000-Mile Service
Brake pads usually wear out at any point after 25,000 miles, though some vehicles will go much longer past that point. Your 30,000-mile appointment includes an inspection of your brake pads along with the rotors. Brake fluid may need to be replaced. Your exhaust system may start to show signs of wear that will reduce your system's effectiveness, and we check your suspension to make sure that it still has structural integrity. We also inspect your drive shaft boot and axle.
60,000-Mile Service
Depending on how well a vehicle has been taken care of, the 60,000-mile mark may start to present some concerns with your car. We pay close attention to your hoses and fuel lines, which can sometimes start to show damage. At 60,000-miles, your vapor vent system requires an inspection and potential maintenance.
105,000-Mile Service
Protection of your engine after 100,000-miles will determine how long you can keep your vehicle running. We recommend having your spark plugs replaced, and we can discuss replacing your coolant in your engine.
