The 2020 Nissan Sentra might be seen as the little car that can. It's a compact sedan with a big attitude, one that promises to bring new driving thrills for a minimal cost. Its more prominent grille, LED headlights, and appealing u-shaped slim grille in the rear make for a more significant appearance than the 2019 model. It's a full redesign that deserves a thorough review.Â
The infotainment screen is designed to look as if it's floating off the dash - for better vision and easier access. The 2020 Sentra has three trims, from the base S, mid-level SV, up to the SR. All trims offer a great selection of convenience and entertainment features. Â
The S includes Intelligent Trace Control Cruise Control and a 7-inch touch screen. The SV has a standard 8-inch touch screen display with an impressive floating design, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant. A remote engine start system, Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, and Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control are other key features on this trim. The SR includes 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED fog lights, leather-wrapped shift knob, and sport cloth interior. Optional equipment includes an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, and heated front seat, and a heated steering wheel.Â
All Sentra trims have front-wheel-drive and feature a CV transmission. There is one engine for the 2020 Sentra across its three trims: a 2.0-liter with four-cylinders, featuring 149 hp, and 145 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is great as expected, with the Sentra getting 29 mpg in city driving, and 39 mpg on the highway.
All Sentra trims feature an array of airbags, Rear Sonar System, Intelligent Engine Brake, Hill Start Assist, Rearview Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. What continues to impress us is how Nissan packs so many safety features for an affordable price.Â
