There's not much new for the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder. What it does bring to the road are robust features that have consistently made it a popular choice of SUV for countless drivers.
You have the option of six different trims with the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder. The first is the Pathfinder S, which has modest features to make your drive more comfortable, such as a hands-free phone system and EZ Flex Seating. It also comes with tri-zone automatic temperature control for interior comfort. The next trim up, the Pathfinder SV, gives you a remote engine start system, intelligent cruise control, and powerful fog lights. By going up one more trim level to the SV Rock Creek Edition, you get 18-inch X 7.5-inch dark-finished aluminum-alloy wheels, stylish black over-fenders, leatherette-appointed seats with cloth inserts, and premium metallic Rock Creek Edition interior trim.
The next trim level is the SL, and it gives you everything the SV has plus LED low beams, the Nissan Navigation System, the Intelligent Around View Monitor, leather-appointed seats, and heated front seats. There's also an SL Rock Creek Edition with similar extras as the SV Rock Creek edition. Finally, you've got the highest trim level, which is the Nissan Platinum. It's got 20-inch X 7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, dual-panel panoramic moonroof, climate-controlled front seats, and a tow hitch receiver with 7-pin wiring harness. All trims come with the 3.5-liter direct injection gasoline DOHC engine.
You've got one engine choice with the 2020 Pathfinder: a 3.5-liter V6. It's got 24 valves and puts out 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired with the Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) and a continuously variable timing control system (CVTS) on intake and exhaust valves. As far as fuel economy is concerned, expect 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway (23 combined) with the 2020 Pathfinder front-wheel-drive model and only one mpg less with the all-wheel-drive version.
The 2020 Pathfinder has its fair share of traditional and high-tech safety features. Its airbag lineup includes the Nissan advanced airbag system with dual-stage supplemental front airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags. Also featured is a zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones plus a tire pressure monitoring system with Easy-Fill Tire Alert. The IIHS (Insurance Institue of Highway Safety) tested the 2020 Pathfinder and gave it a top rating of "Good" for the majority of its tests, and a rating of "Acceptable" for the passenger side small-overlap frontal crash test. Although the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration didn't test the 2020 Pathfinder, it did test the 2019 version. It gave it five stars overall, but only four stars for side-impact testing and four stars for the calculated rollover test.
