What's New for the 2019 Nissan Altima?

The 2019 Altima has undergone some major lineup changes. The standard 3.5-liter V6 engine has been replaced by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. As for the body, the Altima line has grown nearly an inch in length and width. The V-shaped grill now sits lower and sharper than before, with new LED fog lights inserted on either side. You'll also find more room inside the cab and a larger central touchscreen on the dash that's been lowered slightly for added space.

What are the Tech Features and Trims for the Altima?

The 2019 Nissan Altima comes in five trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum. The standard lines all have a plethora of added safety features and interior space. The Platinum line is a completely new luxury trim for 2019 that has multiple added features. Blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and a ProPilot Level 2 semi-autonomous driving hardware all come standard in this trim.

The 2019 lineup of Altima also showcases a multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports in all trims. Navigation applications come standard on the SL and Platinum trims.

Turbocharged Performance for 2019

2019 Nissan Altima RearThere are two engine options available in the 2019 line-up: standard and turbocharged. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine provides 248-horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, even after losing two cylinders. The standard engine is still quite impressive, coming in at a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 188-horsepower. You'll be able to find the standard engine in all trims, while the turbocharged option is only available in higher trim levels.

A Strong Focus on Safety Features

2019 Nissan Altima Safety CameraOne of the largest changes happened to the Altima's safety features. The SV, SL, and Platinum models now have the ProPilot assistant system installed standard. This autonomous hardware helps the driver with steering and braking input. The Platinum model also has 360 degree monitoring system. All 2019 models also have standard rear automatic braking. The focus is on three main features: monitor, respond, and protect. Every Altima has monitoring features, like the Blind Spot Warning, and added protection from front, rear, and side impacts.
