Is the 2018 Nissan Armada the Best New SUV for Me?

If you're in the market for a new full-size SUV, you have plenty of vehicles to choose from. However, only one option features best-in-class horsepower, best-in-class maximum towing capacity, and best-in-class second-row headroom and legroom.

Those aren't the only ways that the Armada is ahead of the pack, either. In fact, it's the only vehicle in its class to come standard with a 13-speaker Bose sound system and offer advanced safety technology, including Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Back-up Intervention, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. Additionally, the 2018 Armada debuts with Nissan's latest safety development, Intelligent Rear View Mirror. This class-exclusive feature allows drivers to switch from a standard view to a live camera feed when needed.

To learn more about what sets this popular three-row SUV apart from the competition, continue reading our 2018 Armada review below. You can also utilize our handy comparison tool to see how it compares to the other top choices on your list.

What Trims Does the 2018 Nissan Armada Come In?

The 2018 Armada in Grapevine comes in four trim grades-SV, SL, Platinum and Platinum Reserve-each offering a generous amount of equipment. The three-row SUV accommodates up to eight passengers, although the optional second-row captain's chairs take capacity down to seven.

LED headlights, roof rails, side steps, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition/entry, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are just a few of the standard amenities found on the entry-level Armada SV. It comes with plenty of nifty tech too, including Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free texting, an 8-inch NissanConnect touchscreen, navigation and the aforementioned premium sound system.

Moving up to the mid-grade Armada SL will add 20-inch wheels, foglights, remote engine start, leather upholstery and trim, rain-sensing wipers, a power-adjustable steering wheel and a power liftgate. If you want all those features plus a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and a rear-seat entertainment system, we recommend opting for the top-of-the-line Armada Platinum.

New this year, you can also choose the Armada Platinum Reserve. This model comes with exclusive styling, including 20-inch dark chrome aluminum wheels, dark chrome exterior trim, open-pore wood-tone interior trim and two-tone leather seats. This trim will have late availability, so if you're interested in seeing it, contact us to be put on a waiting list!

The Armada satisfies in the power department, too, with a 5.6-liter V8 engine rated at 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, and four-wheel drive is optional. Regardless of whether you opt for FWD or 4WD, the Armada can tow up to 8,500 lbs.
