The revised 2017 Nissan GT-R hasn’t even landed at Texas Nissan yet, but that hasn’t stopped the automaker from working on the upcoming next-generation model. According to various automotive sources, Nissan is currently coming up with design ideas for the all-new GT-R and there’s even talk the car could debut with an electric drivetrain.

It’s been nine years since the Nissan GT-R has received a proper makeover and it’s just about time that changes. Automotive News recently reported that Nissan is ready to develop a brand-new GT-R model and the company is already discussing what kind of proportions it should have in order to improve its overall performance and driving dynamics. As of now, nothing has been set in stone, but there’s also talk that the new model could go “green” for the first time.

Nissan’s chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura, was recently quoted saying the brand is focused on improving the GT-R’s fuel efficiency, which is why many are speculating an electric drivetrain could appear on the vehicle. It’s a natural step if Nissan is serious about improving the sports car’s fuel economy ratings, and we’d personally like to see an eco-friendly GT-R cruising down the streets of Grapevine in the near future!
