Nissan was proud to unveil the brand-new 2017 GT-R at this year’s New York Auto Show, which has been revised both inside and out. It’s the biggest makeover the high-performance model has ever seen since it was first introduced to the world in 2007 and Grapevine residents will get a chance to see each change up close and personal when the stunning GT-R arrives at Texas Nissan this summer.
Aggressive New Look
The 2017 Nissan GT-R’s outer appearance is meaner and more appealing than the outgoing model’s. The car comes with a new “V-motion” grille with chrome finish and a mesh pattern, a new hood with prominent character lines, a fresh front spoiler lip and updated front bumpers with finishers below the headlamps. To further expand its sporty aesthetic, the GT-R also features a heightened beltline, side air vents beside the quad exhaust pipes, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, new rear bodywork and pushed out side sills that improve the car’s aerodynamics.
Sophisticated Interior
A brand-new dashboard has been outfitted in the new GT-R that features an instrument panel wrapped in Nappa leather. Adopting a “horizontal flow,” the dashboard delivers what Nissan is calling “sense of high stability” for those sitting in the front seats. To better accommodate drivers, Nissan has also simplified the center dashboard, reducing the number of controls from 27 to 11. Additionally, the cabin features a new 8-inch touch-panel monitor, a new Display Command control on the center console and shift paddles on the steering wheel that allow drivers to easily change gears while in the middle of a turn.
Phenomenal Power
The Nissan GT-R does not get a new powertrain for 2017; however, its signature 3.8L V6 24-valve twin-turbo engine does get a power boost. This year, the powerplant generates 565 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 476 lb.-ft. of torque, which trump last year’s numbers: 550 horsepower and 463 lb.-ft. of torque. The new power offerings are made possible thanks to extra boost from the turbochargers and individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders. On top of these components, the car comes with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, which helps the GT-R achieve maximum performance.
Now offered in “Blaze Metallic,” the incredible, new 2017 Nissan GT-R is a model longtime GT-R fans will be proud to own. Come check it out when it arrives in Grapevine this summer and find out why the GT-R is beloved by many.
