The highly revised 2016 Nissan Altima has officially earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Critically praised for its excellent safety features and technologies, the popular sedan joins the 2016 Nissan Maxima and 2016 Nissan Murano as the sole three vehicle to nab Top Safety Pick+ ratings so far this year in Nissan’s lineup.
"Nissan is very proud to have our best-selling vehicle recognized by IIHS for excellence in vehicle safety," said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). "Like the new Maxima and Murano, Altima sets high standards in a very competitive class for styling, performance and value as well as safety. We at Nissan are gratified to see that another of our core models has been recognized for excellent design and vehicle safety."
The brand-new 2016 Altima model was able to pass all five of the IIHS’ crashworthiness tests with a “Good” rating and earn a “Superior” rating for all trims equipped with optional Forward Emergency Braking. Because of these outstanding scores, the Altima was a frontrunner for the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation. Offered with a variety of other advanced safety technologies, including Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Predictive Forward Collision Warning, the 2016 Nissan Altima is a top pick for modern families.
