The 2016 Nissan Sentra was recently honored with a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This new rating reflects the 2016 Sentra when equipped with optional Forward Emergency Braking, an innovative safety feature designed to prevent avoidable accidents.
"Nissan is proud to have another of our core vehicles recognized by IIHS for vehicle safety," said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). "Nissan has the safety and security of Nissan vehicle owners and their passengers as its top priority, so we are glad to see our long-term investment in safety showing results in these latest IIHS tests."
The Nissan Sentra’s new IIHS rating comes just months after the sedan was initially awarded a Top Safety Pick rating from the institute. To earn the new title, the Sentra had to receive an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention, which it did successfully. It also had to earn a score of “Good” in all five of the IIHS’ crashworthiness tests.
Aside from the Sentra, the Maxima, Altima and Murano have also received Top Safety Pick+ ratings from the IIHS. You can find each one of these award-winning models at Texas Nissan today!
