The adoption of the U.S. flag is one of our nation's most historic moments, and to commemorate the event, Grapevine will be hosting their annual Flag Day Celebration on June 14 at the Grapevine Gazebo, located in the heart of Historic Downtown Grapevine. Open to the public, the city is encouraging everyone to attend the free event to honor the U.S. flag on its official holiday and celebrate its impact on our country. There will also be cookies and lemonade available following the flag ceremony for everyone to enjoy, so bring the entire family along to witness this annual celebration!

On June 14, 1777, the U.S. flag was officially adopted by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Almost 140 years later, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation, which claimed June 14 would be formally known as Flag Day, and in 1949, an Act of Congress established the date as National Flag Day. Since then, Flag Day parades and celebrations have been held annually all across the U.S. The largest Flag Day parade is held each year in Troy, New York and the longest-running parade has been held in Quincy, Mass. since 1952. We hope you'll make it out to Grapevine's very own Flag Day Celebration on Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. and pay respect to one of our country's most beloved emblems.
